Betye Saar: Black Doll Blues and Amoako Boafo: SINGULAR DUALITY: ME CAN MAKE WE at Roberts Projects from Sat, Sept 18 to Sat, Nov 6 ( Exhibition )

Betye Saar's new watercolor works on paper are portraits of the artist's personal collection of Black dolls, including 1880s European brown bisque dolls, dolls handmade with found materials by enslaved people, Mattel’s 1968 first Black Barbie (Christie), and Addie of the American Girl Dolls.

Amoako Boafo's new large-scale paintings explore the tension of internal and external worlds, as well as shadow and light.
