Downtown
The center of a 'city with no center', downtown is the site of new reinvestments and speculation.
Downtown Los Angeles is in the midst of a re-vitalization that is transforming this once completely disinvested area into a major real estate prospect. Downtown boasts some of the best examples of the city's historically significant buildings, butting up against iconic contemporary structures, such as Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall and Thom Mayne's CalTrans District 7 Headquarters.
Downtown has historically been a hub for thriving immigrant communities, including Little Tokyo, Chinatown and Oliveria Street, but there is also an exciting and young arts district is development, with a number of cutting-edge galleries opening near the bastion of the Los Angeles art scene, the Museum of Contemporary Art.
