Chinatown
One of the city's oldest ethnic communities is also one of our newest art hotspots...
Since the late 1990s, Chinatown's eponymous ethnic community has witnessed the steady influx of a new cultural presence: an armada of young, ambitious contemporary art galleries. The traditional dim sum restaurants and souvenir shops are now surrounded by internationally recognized players like Peres Projects and China Art Objects, emerging dealers like Daniel Hug, David Kordansky and Redling Fine Art. Every art opening has to end at a local bar and Chinatown's art bar, The Mountain Bar, is (appropriately) designed by artist Jorge Pardo.
